We have just introduced a new product from Saskatchewan, Camelina Oil. The oil is pressed from the seed of Camelina sativa, an ancient grain commonly used centuries ago in Northern Europe and Asia. It fell out of favour due to the ease of use of other oils, and its high content of unsaturated oil that made it difficult to use in creating margarine. The oil is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids as well as vitamin E. The vitamin E helps give the oil a longer shelf life over another oil known its omega 3 content – flax seed oil.
Our supplier is Three Farmers, a group of, you guessed it, three farmers who started growing and marketing this oil.
Come into the store and try a taste of the oil. Our web site will give more information about the taste, use and history of this product.
